Hello Russ,
Welcome to our message board and thank you for buying Anest Iwata. Try these settings for starters.
Set the material control knob with 4 threads showing between the knob and the gun body.
Set the fan control and the air valve in the gun handle knobs all the way to the left (full open)
No material needed for the air inlet setting. Now with the trigger in the full back position and with air flowing through the gun Set the inlet pressure at 16 PSI for base and 16 to 19 PSI for clear.
Now with material. Leave the knob setting as is or -
From the full open position turn in the fan control knob 1/4 turn in for base and 1- 1-1/4 for clear
Spray distance 6 to 8 inches for base and 6 inches or less for clear
Speed of stroke at 6 inches medium fast at 8 inches medium for base
For clear 6 inches or less fast
Spray pattern over lap 70% for both base and clear
ALWAYS spray perpendicular to the panel
Remember these are starter settings - if your not comfortable tweek them to fit your comfort zone.
Have fun and read the paint manufactures directions for mixing ratios and follow them.
Cheers,
"HUB" :)

Good Morning Russ,
The chop stick scuff pad trick is a proceedure to help correct a faulty spray pattern. If you'd like a copy, post your E address on my PM and I will oblige.
Cheers,
