minimum compressor requirements for LPH-50 mini gun

Hello,

I recently purchased the IWATA LPH-50 mini gun for hobby cabinet spraying which will be used once or twice a year for a couple of hours.

I chose a low pressure mini gun because my surfaces to spray are a few square feet and because of my yet to be proven belief that the modest gun requirements of 1.8 cfm at 13 psi will lower my compressor requirements.

Can someone on this board recommend the minimum compressor size in horsepower, tank volume, and cfm which would meet this gun's minimum requirements?

Some compressors suggested by manufacturers are the Dewalt 55141 (2 gallon, 1.8 cfm @ 100 psi) and the Campbell Hausfeld FP2080 (4 gallon, 1.4 cfm @ 40 psi). These models cost around 200$, which is my budget.

I ended up buying the Campbell Hausfeld HL5402 compressor which is oil lubed. It provides 4 gallons with 3.7 cfm @ 90 psi and the package included a free nail gun. The manufacturer which has been monitoring my purchase felt I made a good choice regarding my spray paint needs.

I'm counting on the inline filter installed in the spray gun's handle to deal with the water and oil droplets coming down the hose.

The CFM requirements vary with the fluid nozzle size.
0.4 1.8 @ 13 PSI

0.6 2.4 @ 13 PSI

1.0 3.9 @ 13 PSI

Your new compressor should handle that ok.

If the compressor is going to be stationary I'd suggested the first 20 feet be hard piped to a permanent water trap to help minimize the water problem.

Fortunately I chose a compressor giving 3.7 @ 90 psu, so that sjould be close enough for my nozzle od 1.0 mm.
